At Maayah Tea, we believe tea is not meant to be rushed. It is a quiet ritual, a moment to pause, breathe, and return to yourself. Every leaf we choose reflects our respect for time, nature, and honest craftsmanship. We work slowly and intentionally, allowing character to develop naturally, without force or excess. A simple cup, made extraordinary through care.
Founder behind maayah tea
Milan Upadhyaya is a second-generation tea farmer from Assam, carrying forward a 25-year-old family garden while quietly redefining its path. Growing up around a tea garden created both familiarity and curiosity, a desire to explore specialty tea making beyond conventional production.
Seeking a different perspective, Milan spent time on tea farms in Japan, learning discipline and craftsmanship alongside Japanese producers. The experience reframed tea as a form of art, revealing its endless creative possibilities.
Upon returning to Assam, he began experimenting with small batches, refining processing techniques, and perfecting tea craftsmanship. Working hands-on across both field and factory, Milan focuses on producing handmade black, green, and oolong specialty teas. Through Maayah Tea, his aim is to reinterpret Assam tea through a quieter, specialty-driven perspective, allowing origin, craft, and thoughtful making to define each tea
